Getting Ready for Spring

Spring is such a beautiful time of year. Full of promise and new life. Also filled with art! Here in Columbia, we will start the season off with “Columbia Open Studios,” presented by 701 CCA. I know many of you are not in my area, but many of you are! Open Studios is a great way to visit with area artists. When you come to Stormwater Studios you get to visit with 8 at one time – including moi!

SO…..I’m getting ready. Cleaning up the studio and put finishing touches on the new paintings. I will debut my Stormwater Studios Wildlife Series during this art crawl.

I just love how our sign casts a shadow on the entrance. It is in different places all day long.

Works in Progress Update

Santee State Park (24×48) painting now looks like this. Came a long way this week.
The Litchfield Sunrise was still to wet to paint on it again, so I started another Litchfield painting.
Working title: All that Glitters (30×40)

There is wet paint everywhere in both my studios right now. Looking forward to the beauty of Spring and more painting. Thank you so much for reading my post this week. It is very much appreciated.

        I love the animals too, the otter does resemble me😂. I wish I could swim like one! The way the ocean glitters is amazing.

Consistent blog posting took a hit; missed 3 weeks! My sincere apologies. My painting had me under its spell. This painting is one that has long been on my mind and in my “to be painted” file. I kept thinking it would be finished for the week’s blog post, but it wasn’t. But it is ready for you now…. “The Stitches we Know,” oil, 24x30 - Collection of the Artist The subject of the painting is my niece, Bek (a/k/a Rebekah). She was taking down her childhood room and is transitioning to her adult life. I found it poignant that her elementary days are represented and the family’s ancestral home is there as well with the picture of the widow’s walk. There are hints to her siblings and even the family’s favorite meal her Mama makes. The photo was taken as a message to me. She is holding up a granny square I crocheted for her (my stitches) while wearing a t-shirt with her “Stitch” on it. We know and think different things, but we share them with each other. So, as you can see this painting brings up many things to my heart and mind. But now dear viewer, I leave it to you. Please enjoy it however you wish. There is a video on my YouTube page that shows the process used to completed the painting. Please take a moment to view it. I have reached my first goal of 25 subscribers (no snickering!).
