For Generations to Come

Apr 22, 2023

I have been working on portraits of a family that loves one another. Mother and Daughter adore each other. Four generations of men smile as they play with the newest generation among them. These paintings exude their happiness to be in each other’s company. It was a pleasure to paint them.

Four Generations on the Easel

On the easel this week…. Time for color. This is usually a scary time – especially if I have gotten a good drawing. Got to hang on to those expressions. One at a time they started to come forward. It felt good to paint people who were feeling good. It’s catchy.

Considering the colors of the background was fun. It was just before golden hour.

Time to paint the baby! Sweet!
Look at the way his great-grandfather holds him. So comfortable.

I am meeting my family friend to show her the paintings for the first time on Friday. She has been updated regularly, but seeing it in person will be real. Once I have finished, she will take over the day to day of loving the paintings. : ) Then, Little John will have a piece of art that will teach him to love and connect with original art that reflects our life and times.

The generations to come will have their own art, but this generation can teach by example to enjoy, create, love, and collect the art that connects with us. Thank you for being here to witness my contribution this week.

I love seeing your progression from drawing to painting. The blues are so peaceful.! They all look happy and that baby is in good hands, yours and their’s.
