ALL GOOD THINGS

The finishing of a good chapter means the next chapter is ready for you. My new chapter is so close. It is exciting to know that the work is changing and your heart and soul are ready.

PORTRAITS – I am so thrilled that my portraits are finished and resting safely at RAMCO framing in Irmo. It was a pleasure to show them to my patron/friend/childhood memory keeper/cheerleader, Susan. We had fun reminiscing and enjoying the big reveal.

LESSONS – Demonstrated how to paint a clear glass vase this week in our oil painting class. Do you see the “Lord of my Manor” over the sink? A painting I did of my dearly beloved many years ago.

On the easel is my demonstration on how to paint a clear glass vase full of flowers! Now to fix that football of a lime and put in the flowers.

This is an especially significant vase of flowers. It is one of the first bouquets from Stormwater Studios’ new native butterfly garden. It is designed by the fabulous Karen Murphy! So lucky to have her on our team.

A view you don't see too often of the studio! The sink and supplies shelves. On the easel is a demonstration of how to look at a vase of flowers as you paint it. LAKE WATEREE – Fresh new canvas. This week I finally get to paint those clouds. let’s get down to business. Cobalt Blue, Maganese Blue – alla Doak paint. Will also have some violet grey and warm white. Here’s the sketch painted as a “Birthday Card” announcement that his wife was having his favorite view painted. Now the final oil painting begins.

Lake Wateree is one of South Carolina's most beautiful lakes. Good Fishing too!

Some say that a white canvas intimidates. I think it is exciting!

ON THE BUSINESS SIDE OF THINGS, my service on the Stormwater non-profit board is finished for now. I am so proud that the working artists of Stormwater Studios successfully created a small, thriving non-profit through the vision and aid of Columbia Development Corporation. Please follow along with us as we grow with Lewis & Clark and One-Eared Cow Glass into a beautiful hub for the visual arts. We are located on historic Williams Street and will be right in the middle of the new park being developed along the Congaree River.

Many things shifting in the studio, and it feels like is going to be a good new chapter. Stay tuned.

Ever shifting – ever present – ever eager –

Michel

Just a little peaceful moment before the day gets going.

Nothing but gratitude.
