Why does art matter to me?

Oct 22, 2022

From my very earliest days, I have been an artist, a mark maker, an observer, and most importantly – I share what I find. An artist communicates. Through film, dance, music, painting, sculpture, speech, etc. an artist can reflect the times in which they live. To that end, I am learning to use modern technology to communicate with my audience. I find myself surprised that I am enjoying the process. This blog has been very fun to use as a way of communication, and thank you very much for joining me. I am also learning to use video to communicate.

Here is my video on why art matters to me. I would love to hear why art matters to you!

I have some exciting news! Last week my instagram video on how I prepare my metal leaf surfaces went viral! 64,500 people viewed my video! If you would like to see it, here’s the link:

If you don’t have Instagram, you can view it here!

BIG BLUE REVIEW

Today I learned how to make a video just for you. This video is published for only those with the link! You can share if you like, but folks going to my YouTube Channel won’t see it in the line up. I did this review in video form for you to get an idea of the size.

Thank you for allowing me to communicate with you why art matters to me. I am hoping that you will share some of your thoughts on why art matters to you.

See you next week – until then, I’ll be painting,

Michel

P.S. Thank you for last week’s response. Best ever!

Art—books & paintings , drawings , prints & music —matters to me because it widens my world, connects me to others, suggests new ways of thinking and being, reminds me of the past and enlarges my imagination, moves and delights me. Art makes me more human, alive, and empathic.

    Love it Michel !!!
    You are an inspiration!
    Thank you for sharing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Yes, art matters…
First, it is healing… in so many ways. After a major surgery, nurses had me up walking and I discovered there was artwork by one of my good friends on the walls, 6 paintings. Made me smile and encouraged me to walk. Art helped us all through the past couple of years as well…
Second, art has the power to change lives… It opens you up to the beauty and wonder of life and nature.
Three, it did change my life.. I started painting to help a friend who had opened a gallery and gave art instruction. I was buying art there, and then decided that I would help them by taking classes…. little did I know how much it would change my life. Travel to New Zealand, France, Italy, England, Poland and all over the USA.
I am very grateful for all that I have learned, all the people I have met and all the wonderful art that we enjoy…

    Thankfully,
    Virginia
