“Smooth Landing” Oil, 24×36
I have finally finished “Smooth Landing.” I gave you a peek of it in a previous post (here). I loved painting this – then I hated painting this – then I loved it again. So, I figured that was a good place to stop. I started by putting in the reflections, which was a blast. Then I struggled with finding the right value and shade of blue for the water and sky. What finally did it for me was putting a very thin wash of burnt sienna over the whole thing…..go figure. Falling in love again.
Here’s a study I did to try to figure out what to do.
Stay tuned for some sky studies I did this week at my Corley Mill Studio Classes.
