Fall at Table Rock State Park
Sep 15, 2023
Table Rock State Park is a landscape painter’s dream – so many opportunities to paint. Nature lovers, camping lovers, and art lovers unite at Table Rock in the fall to enjoy what the earth has to offer. What are the favorite parks in your area?
This week I demonstrated for one of my classes how to “block-in” (or begin) a series of paintings. In order to keep them harmonious, starting them all at once and with the same palette is a good idea.
Here we have four images from Table Rock State Park with 5 to 7 foundational shapes and a high level of color saturation. Each was blocked in and left to dry. I will go back in just as little as possible so that I don’t lose the freshness of the paint. Wish me luck.

There is a little lake in front of Table Rock and a small little area to explore. It is one of the most beautiful places in the whole park. Drive across the street and look for the little paths that will bring you to the lake. Don’t forget your camera.

This red orange tree was shining bright in the vivid blue sky. Who wouldn’t stop and marvel at this colorful show?

Of course, the show didn’t stop there. So many beautiful trees and colors. Many, many paintings begging to be painted!
And who doesn’t love a Diva! This tree stopped me in my tracks. What an opportunity to catch this brilliance on canvas. I’ll never forget it.
Table Rock State Park has it all – cooler temperatures, historic cabins (built by Roosevelt’s CCC), and of course there is the vivid show of color during Fall! Reflecting my experiences at Table Rock is such a privilege. I cannot wait to get back into Studio #7 and finish them up. And paint more! Fall is such a good time for painters to take their studio outside and be in there subject matter. Hope to see you out there.
BUT WAIT – THERE’S MORE! : )

INSIDE my studio this week, I started something big that I have been wanting to paint for a long time. There is only one person seeing this little hint will know exactly what I am painting. Please don’t give it away just yet – especially to the model. Thanks!
Thank you for checking out my work this week. I sincerely appreciate all the shares on social media. It is working! Please continue to share so that all our friends in common know I am back and better than ever. Hackers can’t stop this girl.
See you next week,
Michel
P.S. Robert has been out of town at AJ’s house in New Lebanon, NY. He is helping them out and they are taking him out. Second concert at the Historic Colonial Theatre in Pittsfield, Mass. It’s Motown tonight, and AJ’s bride, Saoirse, is with him. AJ is working the show. : ). My heart is happy.
“Stitch” I can’t wait to see the finished product! Enjoying the beauty of fall through your pictures! 🙂
I am looking forward to seeing the finished painting myself! Getting close now. Thank you so much for sharing my social media posts! It is working….
