Time has flown by this week.

The Lake Wateree painting is completed and headed to the framer.

My classes have paused for the summer; we finished up this week.

And today – May 28, 2023 – Robert and I have been married for 40 years!

We are celebrating by doing what we have always done – anything we want! : )

It is quite the indulgence.

Here’s a look into the studio this week.

I have been keeping a “Perpetual Sketchbook.”

“This is how a perpetual journal works. The pages are marked with the dates of the 52 weeks of the year (i.e… January 1-7, January 8-14…). The dating of these weeks (in the upper left corner) is not tied to a specific year. The artist uses the journal to record observations during a particular week of the year. This process continues and the artist can return to the same week in subsequent (perpetual) years. Eventually, a page is filled up with multilayered drawings of consecutive years on one page.” Lara Call Gastinger Take a look at her pages! They are inspiring.

On a Personal Note

Time flies when you are having fun.

Today Robert and I have been married 40 years.

Here are few pictures….

For years we celebrated our anniversary at the Piccolo Spoleto Art Exhibition at Marion Square, Charleston SC. Just another way he supported the arts.

    Oh my favorite couple, my sister and brother in law!! The best example of a marriage in the world today!! I love you both so much. Consistent blog posting took a hit; missed 3 weeks! My sincere apologies. My painting had me under its spell. This painting is one that has long been on my mind and in my “to be painted” file. I kept thinking it would be finished for the week’s blog post, but it wasn’t. But it is ready for you now…. “The Stitches we Know,” oil, 24x30 - Collection of the Artist The subject of the painting is my niece, Bek (a/k/a Rebekah). She was taking down her childhood room and is transitioning to her adult life. I found it poignant that her elementary days are represented and the family’s ancestral home is there as well with the picture of the widow’s walk. There are hints to her siblings and even the family’s favorite meal her Mama makes. The photo was taken as a message to me. She is holding up a granny square I crocheted for her (my stitches) while wearing a t-shirt with her “Stitch” on it. We know and think different things, but we share them with each other. So, as you can see this painting brings up many things to my heart and mind. But now dear viewer, I leave it to you. Please enjoy it however you wish. "Helios," 48x24, oil on canvas. Minor revisions gave this painting a little more drama. Am I finished? I'll look at it this week and decide.
