Paintings from SC State Parks
Four paintings in the State Park series were completed this week. Hope you enjoy these new images. Do you have any favorite state parks? These paintings will be part of a social media campaign in the next few weeks. When you see them in your feed, please share them. It would mean so much to me. Getting the paint to tell the story – round two. The natural beauty of the sun coming up or going down always feels full of majesty. At sunset the light rakes across the surface of the earth for a few more minutes teasing tomorrow with the most brilliant colors. It will be back as promised calling you into today soon enough. Here is a series of paintings of my many trips to Huntington Beach State Park – with an extra one as a hint of things to come with a Santee State Park series.

Not very 21st century… Ah well, it was enjoyable – there is that. I started with a oil sketch and went to a larger canvas for the final painting. Love this vase. Will definitely paint it again. Flower Season is over in my studio – at least for now. Let me show you the last of the series. Hope you enjoy looking at this process.

This beautiful bouquet came from our new pollinator garden at Stormwater Studios. Karen Murphy is our designer, and these flowers are the fruits of her labor. In addition to being a master naturalist, she is also my student and my friend. The bouquet was so varied and vibrant. It was the first bouquet from this beautiful new garden. All this made it very fun to paint.

A beautiful bouquet of homegrown asparagus was gifted to me this week and was immediately inspiration for a new painting. I got right back to the easel, and began to reflect on the beautiful shapes and colors. Asparagus is a sure sign that Spring has arrived.
