Paintings from the Road
Jan 6, 2023
Don’t you love a road trip? Everything was new to us; absolutely exciting. Connecting with a new landscape. I carry a mobile studio and paint every chance I get – when I am not knitting socks.
A beautiful day for a drive up I-81. This is Mount Jackson just outside of Winchester VA where we stopped for the night. After 7 hours and some okay Italian, we called it a day.
We got to our family’s home and received the warmest of welcomes! This is the first view we had of their beautiful new home.
There is a fox den below the sheds, but I didn’t see any that day – or I would have tried to put one in. All my students will get a chuckle out of that! I’m always telling them to put some wildlife in their landscapes. I might have to give it a try.
The drive and visit with our family was delightfully inspiring. We are grateful to be home safely. Looking forward to sharing more art from this wonderful trip. See you next week. Thank you,
Michel
P.S. Did you know that clicking on any of my paintings will give you a larger view of the painting?

Oh wow oh wow! The light play in The Hancock Shaker Village!
Eloquent.
Can a painting be eloquent? Why yes. Yes it can, as proven here.
Thank you! Remember when you told me to stand up and I could be an artist? Forever grateful.
Honey not only did you stand up, you RAN! Work as beautiful as the artist herself. mmmwah!
I love you.
Love these paintings so much! And the socks are beautiful too. Lucky Robert!
Thank you, friend. He has been wearing them everyday around the house. Love to see them on his feet!
You been busy and they are all beautiful
I certainly enjoyed my time off! We had a fabulous trip, and all my family was understanding of my painting every extra minute! Will bring them to the studio to show you.

Thank you, thank you.
Loved your paintings were beautiful. So different seeing snow. I think first time I’ve seen snow in your work. Loved Robert’s socks. What fiber do you use. Might be a good side business Assume these are small paintings love ya’ll
Yes, first time for snow in my paintings. It was the first time really being in a snow other than a dusting. It came on so fast. 8 inches in an hour and a half.
Thank you for sharing….!!!!
These are wonderful!!!
I always carry a watercolor kit in my car…. but I rarely use it.
I take photos mostly…
Maybe this year??!!!!
New Year, New US!!!

I love having it on hand. I go through spurts. During quarantine, I would head out and just stop somewhere and paint…..but that’s another sketchbook. : )
Beautiful socks and paintings!
Thanks, Julie!
There is a lightness, hope, and happiness in your watercolors of the trip. Looking forward to seeing the originals!
Thank you for seeing the paintings in that light. I believe you are correct. Glad I was able to show you the originals first! : )
These paintings are so evocative. I am thrilled that you got all this new input for creativity.
Thank you, Maggie. It was SO inspiring. Next week’s blog is also! We toured some grand old theatres.
