Doodling During Covid Recovery

Mar 26, 2023

Y’all. Covid fatigue is real! I have had some puny days this week. Sleep and more sleep.

I didn’t want to work on anything that I could mess up, so I doodled when I got a little energy. Thought I could share them with you. They are playful and without pressure – like I did as a kid.

It starts with a circle. Loosely based on mandala ideas. With no preconceived notions, I begin to doodle.
I just keep adding color, shape and texture. Eventually, I stop and move on.
Same thing here. One thing leads to another until it feels time to stop.

It is a fun exercise. Actually, I used to do this quite a lot – many years ago. A student, through her own work, reminded me of this exercise. It helped me get through Covid. I love my students. Each and every one of them. : ) It’s part of the package. I don’t know how to do it any other way.

Before fatigue hit me this week, I was able to make some progress on the portrait. Here is an update for those of you following along.

I am so happy with how this is coming along.

I didn’t want to miss a week; so, this is what was going on in my studio while recovering from Covid. I didn’t have a fever, chills, etc. Just extreme fatigue. 🙁 However, I am on the mend and feel better today than yesterday. What more could I ask? Thank you for your interest in my work. It is such a pleasure sharing it with you. Even on doodle days. : )

“What Is Doodling? It’s common to aimlessly draw when your mind is otherwise occupied, such as during a phone call, meeting, or lecture, or when you want to meditate or relax. This is the art of doodling—the act of drawing, sketching, or scribbling without a final goal or product in mind.” Google

Just ready to feel myself again. I am better though. Just get tired easily. Should improve as I begin everyday activities again.
