I can hear my friend, Kathy, saying “here she comes!” We watch the sunrise together at least a couple mornings a year. We also go to HBSP at least once a year too. That’s what I call treasure.
At Santee State Park, there are cabins on the piers. This is the view just as the sun sinks into the water. The smell of the brackish water comes to mind and the squawks of the shorebirds settling in for the night. I wanted to paint the “end of day” drama.
Causeway Morning Memories, oil, 6x8 - $295 In the golden hour before everything stirs, there is color and light and quiet. Three of my favorite things. Huntington Beach SP has a beautiful causeway with a walk on each side. Watch for the alligators crossing. I’m not kidding!

Litchfield Beach, oil, 6x8 This little spot in the world gives spectacular color. I always get inspired to paint there.
“Camping Island,” oil, 5X7 - Billy Dreher Island State Park. There is a surprise in this painting. The Park is actually the land mass in the very back. This was our view from our dock for 20 years. We camped on the island on the right, because the island on the left always had spiders. The things a painting can help you remember.
Wading for Breakfast, 6x8, oil, $295 The birds have sanctuary in the estuary at Huntington Beach SP (5 Xs fast). There are always many flocks of shore birds posing for park visitors. They wade around at feeding times in the morning and the evening.
